Understanding Referenced Interaction Types in Query

When adding an Interactions phrase in Query, interaction types that reference campaigns or other objects (such as surveys or action alerts) are now in a separate group called Referenced Types. When selecting an item from this new group of Referenced Interactions, you will now see an applicable list of campaigns/objects. You can then specify that your query return only constituents who interacted with one or more of these specific campaigns or other objects.

For example, if you select Donation from the Referenced Types group, you will see a list of all Donation Campaigns for your site, including those associated with TeamRaiser and Personal Fundraising. You can then select the campaigns for which you wish to see the list of constituents who donated.

Important Considerations:

  • You can filter large lists of referenced objects by Name and by Security Category
  • The system will only display a maximum of 500 Referenced objects for each Referenced Interaction Type; if you know that you have more than 500 referenced objects for an Interaction Type (such as Donations), use the Name and Security Category filters to refine the list
  • While you can select multiple campaigns or objects within a single phrase, they will be entered into your query as separate lines and must be edited individually.
  • You can select objects for which you may not have permissions, but the query will only return constituents that you do have permission to see. (For example, if you have contact management permissions only in Center A, you can select a Campaign in Center B, but you will not see constituents who donated to that campaign unless they are also members of Center A.)
  • Campaigns and objects with the following status will be listed: draft, published, unpublished, closed (archived objects will not appear)

Understanding the Objects Each Referenced Type will Display

The following table lists each Referenced Type of interaction and the campaigns or other Objects that will display for each. The Notes column discusses what generates the interaction -- along with any special considerations.

Referenced Interaction Type

Campaigns/Objects that Will Display

Notes

Alert Response

·         Action Alerts

·         Letter to the Editor Alerts

·         Call Alerts

·         Vote Alerts (see Notes section)

The interaction is generated when constituents (respondents) take these various alerts.

Note also:

·         Action Alerts, LTE Alerts, and Call Alerts will use the internal name whenever it is available

·         For each Vote Position that you have configured, a separate Alert will be listed for each vote position that has an associated action alert (for example, one alert for the Yea position, one alert for the Nay position, etc)

·         Vote Alerts will only be identified by name if you have given them a specific name in the first step of the Vote Configuration process (i.e. a name other than the default Vote identification ID)

Donation

·         Donation Campaigns by name (including those associated with TeamRaiser and Personal Fundraising)

·         Personal Fundraising Campaigns by name

·         TeamRaiser Campaigns by name

The interaction is generated when a constituent donates to (or registers for) the associated Donation campaign, TeamRaiser, or Personal Fundraising campaign.

Note also:

·         Selecting Personal Fundraising Campaigns by name will return only constituents who have given Offline Donations (constituents who made online donations are returned through the associated donations campaign)

·         Selecting TeamRaiser Campaigns by name will return only constituents who have given Offline Donations (constituents who made online donations are returned through the associated donations campaign)

·         Donation Classic Campaigns are included

Personal Events Attendee Changes Registration

Personal Event Hosted Events by name

The interaction is generated when an attendee changes their registration information for the selected hosted events.

Since personal events may not have occurred (even though they have a host and attendees), the list of events will include all events in the past plus events that will occur up to 366 days in the future

Personal Events Attendee Registration

Personal Event Hosted Events by name

The interaction is generated when an attendee registers for the selected hosted events.

Since personal events may not have occurred (even though they have a host and attendees), the list will include all events in the past plus events that will occur up to 366 days in the future

Personal Events Host Changes Event

Personal Event Hosted Events by name

The interaction is generated when a host changes the details of their event.

Note also:

·         Since personal events may not have occurred (even though they have a host and attendees), the list will include all events in the past plus events that will occur up to 366 days in the future

·         Note that each Hosted event has only one host – so selecting an event will return only one constituent

Personal Events Host Creates Event

Personal Event Hosted Events by name

The interaction is generated when a host creates an event.

Note also:

·         Since personal events may not have occurred (even though they have a host and attendees), the list will include all events in the past plus events that will occur up to 366 days in the future

·         Note that each Hosted event has only one host – so selecting an event will return only one constituent

Survey Modified

Surveys

The interaction is generated when a constituent modifies a survey.

Survey Submitted

Surveys

The interaction is generated when a constituent submits a survey.

Sustaining Gift Processed

Donation Campaigns

The interaction is generated when a constituent commits to a sustaining gift, but note that:

·         All Donation campaigns will display, regardless of whether they contain forms that permit sustained giving

·         A sustaining gift will appear as a simple donation until the "first scheduled" payment is processed

TeamRaiser Registration Fees Paid

TeamRaiser Campaigns

This interaction specifically captures only those constituents who registered using an "offline pay later participation type." (The interaction is generated when an admin edits the registration to indicate that the offline payment has now been received.)

The setup required to generate this interaction, requires that the following two site options be enabled by Convio:

·         F2F_Enable_Offline_Fees

·         F2F_Allow_Offline_Part_Types

(See Understanding the TeamRaiser Registration Fees Paid Interaction, below, for more details)

Important: For all other TeamRaiser Registration interactions, use the Donation interaction Type -- and 1) select the name of the associated donation campaign to capture those who made online donations and 2) select the name of the TeamRaiser to capture those who made offline donations.

eCommerce Bill Me Later

eCommerce Stores

The interaction is created when a constituent uses the Bill Me Later option when completing a purchase from a store.

Notes:

  • The Bill Me Later option must be enabled in Global Options and then specifically enabled for the store before this option is available.
  • All stores will display in the list, regardless of whether they offer the Bill Me Later option

eCommerce Download Picked Up

eCommerce Products

The interaction is generated when a constituent downloads a product from a store (that is, picks up a downloadable product).

Note that all products will display -- regardless of whether they can be downloaded.

eCommerce Ecard Sent

eCommerce Stores

The interaction is generated when a constituent sends an eCard from the store.

Notes:

·         Stores can be configured to contain eCards as a Product; if so, constituents must then download and send the eCard to others before the interaction is recorded

·         Stores can also be configured so that those who buy products can send an eCard after their purchase (to tell their friends about the purchase); again, a constituent must actually send the eCard before the interaction is recorded

eCommerce Purchase

eCommerce Stores

The interaction is generated when a constituent purchases an item from a store.

Note: These Referenced Types have been pulled out of the Default Types group only in the Query application.

Editing Interaction Phrases

Interaction phrases that reference multiple objects will be entered as separate lines in your query window (that is, one line for each referenced object). When editing (changing) your query, you will need to edit each line separately.

Consider the following when editing:

  • You will be able to replace a single named reference (campaign or other object) with a single additional item (that is, you cannot multi-select Referenced Names when editing)
  • For everyone not using MultiCenter, the interactions phrase window will re-open with All Categories as the default selection for Secuity Category -- regardless of the Security Category of the object in the phrase being edited
  • For MultiCenter clients:
    • In Center mode, if you edit a phrase that contains a referenced object not in the current center, the default view will be All Categories; if the object is in the current center, the default category selected will be the same as the current center and the list will be filtered accordingly).
    • In All Centers mode, the behavior will be the same as when MultiCenter is not enabled (All Categories displayed by default)
  • If you edit a phrase and change the OR to AND, it may affect the way additional phrases are added to your query. So, be sure to check that each phrase reads as you intend it to!

Understanding the TeamRaiser Registration Fees Paid Interaction

The TeamRaiser Registration Fees Paid interaction specifically captures only those constituents who registered using an "offline pay later participation type." You may be using this participation type if you have companies who will be paying the participants' fees at a later time, or if you are working with participants who cannot pay online for some reason.

The interaction is generated when an administrator or an event manager edits the registration to indicate that the offline payment has now been received.

Note that the Participation Type that allows offline payment of registration fees is only available if the following site options are enabled (by Convio Support):

  • F2F_Enable_Offline_Fees
  • F2F_Allow_Offline_Part_Types

The following two help files provide more information about this participation type:
