Logging Into Our Site

For many actions on our web site, you must be a registered user (or, constituent) and have a user account with a unique User Name and Password combination for logging in.

If the option to log in using a social site (like AOL, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter, or Yahoo!) is displayed, you can link the social account login to your account on this site and log in with same User Name and Password combination that you use on that social site.

Notes:

Click one of the following links to learn about logging in with the User Name and Password:

Logging In With Your Login Information from Your Account On this Site

When you registered on this site, you most likely created your own User Name and Password. However, sometimes, we create them for you. When we do, we send an email to you with this information or the steps for getting it.

Your password is associated with your User Name and, if you know the User Name, can be recovered via email.

Your User Name is ultimately tied to your email address. If you use several email addresses, you may need to try them to find the correct one if you don't use them for certain reasons. If you are sure of the email address, you can also recover your User Name and reset your password.

Step 1: Enter Your User Name and Password

Enter your User Name and Password in the appropriate field.

Step 2: Optionally, Set the Login Cookie

To be automatically logged in each time you come to the site, click the Remember me checkbox. (Note: This auto-login feature cannot be used with an administrator account.)

Step 3: Click Log In

Click Log In. If your login was:

  • Successful, the appropriate site page displays.
  • Not successful, the reason for the error displays with the User Login page. You may attempt to enter the same User Name and Password again or recover the information.

Logging In With Login Information from a Social Site Account

If available (that is, the Log in with one of you preferred sites Social Sites link displays), you can log into this site using the same User Name/Password combination that you use to log into your social site.

The first time you want to use your social account log in, you must establish the connection to the social site account by responding to prompts from the social site that ask for your permission to link the accounts and supply information as requested followed by a Validation page from our site with any known information automatically filled in. You may need to enter information in additional fields and then submit the page.

Then to log in each time after that, you can just enter the User Name and Password combination from the social site. (Note that you can also use your login User Name and Password for your account on this web site as well.)

You can make this connection from the Log In page at any time. In fact, you can link to more than one social site. Although, if you have multiple accounts on this site (for example, you have an administrator account for certain portions of our site as well as a general user account), you cannot link the same social account to both accounts on this site.

Important: As with all web sites that allow you to link to your accounts on them, once you log in using the credentials for that site, you most likely will remain logged into that site (even if you have not opened the web site page) and should manually log off when you are finished.

Note: The connection between accounts is established and provided in a secure manner by an outside resource named Gigya. This is a social network connection provider that works behind the scenes to make safe, secure connections between user accounts on different systems, such as popular social media web sites like Facebook and web sites like ours where you are actively involved in social issues and causes. Note that neither your User Name or Password is stored by Gigya.

A list of the social accounts that you have linked to this account is maintained in your account Profile. You can always view your account Profile. And, at any time, you can break the connection between your accounts.

Step 1: Select the Social Site
