Selecting a Tentmate

You can search for and list participants who are still available to be chosen as a tentmate.

Step 1: Locate the Tenting Information Link

If you have chosen to participate in an event with a fundraising minimum, you must meet that minimum before you can access Tenting Options. Once you are eligible to share a tent (after you raise the minimum amount), you will find a View or Modify Tenting Information link on your Participant Center home page. (This link typically renders at the bottom right of the page; however, it may appear elsewhere.) Clicking that link will load the tenting tools page.

Step 2: Display the Search for a Tentmate Page

Click the View or modify tenting information link. The Tenting Status page loads. A search form displays following the Search for a Tentmate

Step 3: Enter Search Criteria

Enter all or part of a known participant's First Name and Last Name in the appropriate fields. If you know an email address or personal id number, you may wish to enter one of those instead to minimize possible multiple hits on a common given name (such as Pat Jones).

Note: If you do not want to search for a specific individual, you can enter the percent symbol (%) in the Last Name field. This will return a list of all participants in this TeamRaiser.

Click the Search for a Tentmate button to initiate the search. The page reloads and displays a table listing participants registered for this TeamRaiser who are available to be a tentmate.

You can click the corresponding View link to open a participant's personal page in a new window. You can click the corresponding Select link to initiate the process of inviting a participant to be your tentmate. 

Step 4: Select the Participant to Invite

The page reloads and displays, in place of the tentmate search form and participant list, a message area into which you can type a personal invitation message.

Step 5: Send the Invitation

Click the Send Tentmate Invitation button.

The page reloads and displays a confirmation message, An email has been sent with your invitation to share a tent, in green.

The invitee will receive the email and either accept or decline your invitation. You will receive the response as an email.

If your invitation is accepted, when you next visit your Participant Center, the message Your tentmate selection has been confirmed will be displayed at the bottom of the colored area on the right side of the page.

Note: If your invitation is declined, your tenting status will return to Ready to select tentmate.
